Journalism for young students?

I have a pion for writing. Ever since my seventh grade craze for Gilmore Girls i have wanted to be a journalist and follow the foot steps of a miss rory gilmore from the television show. Even now, as a freshman in highschool, this fantasy of mine is still strong. I was wondering if there are any preporations i would do in order to become a sucessful journalist. After all if i am serious about this i should prepare early. If you have any advice it is much appreciated. Thank you :]
